The inspiration for this fragrance is a tale from a bygone era, when nations where ruled by poets, and poets were sacred to Apollo. In those days Sicily was a Greek colony, Syracuse was a fragrant court, and its gardens vibrated with the scent of citrus orchards and rows of aromatic plants. Thus Jardin du Poete, the poet's garden, a luminous fragrance to evoke Sicily and all things Sicilian.
Eau d’Italie’s inspiration was associated with the idea and the subsequent question of whether it was possible to compose a fragrance with all the classic Italian touches such as bitter orange, basil and flowers, while remaining faithful Eau d’Italie’s philosophy - unmistakably unique and uncompromisingly modern.
Eau d’Italie considered this a real challenge and discussed their idea with Bertrand Duchaufour, a renowned independent perfumer - on a warm summer evening where they tested and smelled the raw ingredients they wanted to work with.
The answer came two years later, in the form of "Jardin du Poète" and although a fragrance is what we sense and feel when we wear it, it is nevertheless interesting to describe more accurately some of the raw ingredients that Eau d’Italie used to create what they wanted.
Jardin du Poète has bitter orange and grapefruit in the top note, and is supported by basil, all in the form of natural essences. Then a hint of rose, almost unnoticed that paves the way to a structure of angelica (Angelica Archangelica), and a heart of elicriso (Helichrysum italicum), an Italian flower, which also is known as immortelle. The base of the fragrance is a warming blend of cypress and vetiver, with fine traces of musk.
The result is a bright, vibrant and clear scent - a fragrance which immediately appeals to our senses and seduces us - composed with passion, intellectual curiosity and the best quality raw ingredients.
