Trudon - Les Belles Matières - Ourika - Scented Candle

Ourika by Trudon is sensual and spicy. Another addition to the Les Belles Matières collection. Ourika is a sensual journey, discovering the spicy character of iris.

The iris has grown in fertile valleys and gardens since ancient times and also played a role in Egyptian mythology: it is highly symbolic, as it is associated with Horus, the falcon god who unites heaven and earth. It blooms at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, in the Ourika Valley. It thrives in the sun and in rural surroundings. La Belle Matière Ourika combines a floral top note of gardenia, rose and magnolia with the spicy notes of benzoin and pink pepper to emphasise the sensual and powdery essence of iris.

270 g wax, burn time: approx. 55–60 hours

Iris is one of the most sought-after ingredients in the world. The fragrance was created by Emilie Bouge (ROBERTET).

Les Belles Matières

Les Belles Matières by Trudon: pure and focused on the essentials in their form, a trio of unique candles. Composed as a plant triptych, these fine perfumes orchestrate fruity, woody and floral scents: Reggio is filled with mandarin from Calabria; Tadine flirts with sandalwood from New Caledonia, while Maduraï blossoms with Indian jasmine.

A geographical odyssey, the collection takes us back to the origins of precious perfumes, immersing us in the great moments of botanical discovery and revealing the creation of great olfactory adventures.

Like the call of distant lands, the feeling of the absolute pervades ‘Les Belles Matières’. The gatekeeper of these secret discoveries is the midnight blue glass that envelops the ingenious essences. The three fragrance absolutes speak a modern language – ‘Les Belles Matières’, let there be matter!

Mehr über Trudon

In 1643, a merchant by the name of Trudon arrived in Paris. Through a fortunate marriage, he became the owner of a shop in the famous Rue Saint Honoré, in the Saint Roch district. In addition to groceries and colonial goods, he sold candles for domestic use and candles for the fair. As time went by, he honed and perfected his candlemaking skills and soon was producing candles of the highest quality.

Shortly before the ascension to the throne of France by the Sun King, Louis XIV, the master established a small manufactory bearing his name, thus laying the foundations for a long tradition. His son Jacques continued his father's craft with the same passion and commitment to quality, and in 1687 his outstanding skills led to his being invited to the Court of Versailles, where he became the King's purveyor. In 1719, the Maison Trudon was officially appointed royal wax manufacturer. The wax and candle business flourished and the company continued for centuries.

Today, Maison Trudon is France's oldest candle manufacturer and has created candles of the highest quality for major houses such as Hermès, Guerlain and Dior, always keeping in mind the traditions of the House of Trudon.
