Kayu is a soft, cashmere-like darkness. Airy and clean at first, the fragrance slowly develops with notes of rosemary and mandarin, which gently transition into fluffy vanilla notes. Its dual nature—sweet and dry, smooth and rough at the same time—runs like a thread through the story told by the fragrance. Balsamic, rounded guaiac wood opens the woody heart of Kayu. Right behind it, the warm murmur of Omani incense heralds the coming wave of darkness. When you close your eyes, you can sense the impenetrable notes of tart, slightly bituminous agarwood – our unique blend of oud oils from Trat Thai and Udomsai. We have underscored it with an intense hint of marzipan sweetness from tonka bean and powdery musk. Surprising, euphoric, deep, warm. Kayu, darkness shines brighter than light.
Inspiration
Kayu is the Indonesian word for wood, and the fragrance is a nod to the home of the most precious agarwood used here: Thailand and Laos. Kayu combines dry, earthy nuances of oud, guaiac and incense, weaving a woody story in a veil of powdery notes. Kayu, darkness shines brighter than light.
