To wear G.A is to choose duality, between tangy casualness and calm elegance tinged with leathery notes. Sunshine spiced with Cardamom, ocean views, we're at the crossroads between two waves. On your skin, a scent of light Grapefruit and a splash of Black Tea with Orange Blossom. To be or not to be a Dandy, why choose? Absolute freedom is being able to change your mind.
The words of the perfumer
“The inspiration was to create the fragrance of today's Dandy, a person who is rebellious, anti-conventional, status and assertive. I wanted to create an unexpected and recognizable scent by contrasting a slightly smoky Black Tea Cuiré accord with a sweet and innocent Orange Blossom, I really wanted the scent to make you want to smell it indefinitely, an almost obsessive addiction.” — Sidonie Lancesseur
Creation
In 1925, the House of D'Orsay launched Dandy, a fragrance that quickly became iconic for the complexity and arrangement of its notes. The blend was resolutely ambitious: Whisky, Rum, Yellow Fruits; followed by a spicy heart of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove, Cardamom and ending with notes of Tobacco, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Peruvian Balsam, Tonka Bean and Patchouli.
Almost 100 years later, D'Orsay has stripped its famous Dandy bare, swapping the suave for the tangy, retaining the bare essentials of its spices. Sidonie Lancesseur has imagined the new fragrance Dandy or not. G.A. Grimaud Alfred is the original name of Alfred D'Orsay, a fascinating and seductive character, gifted and visionary, who became a dandy 200 years ago. His refusal of conventions even then would have meant that he would not have wanted to be considered as such today.
Evocation
D'Orsay creates unisex fragrances, echoing the first historic fragrance conceived in 1830 by the creator Alfred d'Orsay for himself and the love of his life Marguerite Blessington. D'Orsay is all about hedonism, disruption and mastery. To seek pleasure, whether sensory or intellectual, to create surprise and break with convention, to defend the historic and precious know-how of perfume, to explore an aesthetic that unites genres. As lovers of mystery, we cultivate the enigmatic, the names of our creations raise questions, our products play with chiaroscuro and our universe is designed to surprise.
