The composition
At last, a master perfumer has dared to create a fragrance that bursts with complexity, richness and abundance. Bertrand Duchaufour seems to be at the peak of his creative powers; there is no other explanation for this multifaceted and fascinating work of art.
The opening is green. Warm, woody and powerful green, dotted with a few hyacinths, garnished with the fragrant flesh of ripe clementines, seasoned with a sprig of lavender and a hint of thyme. All this creates a pleasant, warm shiver, arouses curiosity and makes you want more.
The skilful use of aldehydes allows ‘Chypre Palatin’ to shine without straying into overly familiar territory. The soft growl of a wild cat can already be heard. It lolls contentedly on the sun-warmed forest floor, rubbing dark velvety rose petals, iris, gardenia and jasmine. The senses are in turmoil, so mysterious is it all. Here and there, a few dried fruits and peppery spices from the Orient enter into the lascivious play of the lioness, and her behaviour becomes increasingly alluring and the fire more blazing.
Masculine animality and feminine voluptuousness are perfectly combined and masterfully staged. A revelry and pleasure in brocade and velvet, courted by the most beautiful leather and the delicate hint of immortelle. Vanilla and tolu balsam, together with the resins of benzoin and styrax, are extremely complex and perfectly harmonious with the chypre-typical oak moss.
Chypre Palatin seems to be a blast from the past. Nostalgic, sumptuous ball nights combine with feline wildness and flirt with the fusion of feminine and masculine scents on the skin.
