Parfums de Marly - Cassili

Luxurious indulgence

A first for Parfums de Marly: a gourmand fragrance!

An irresistible and delicious blend of velvety fruits and pastel flowers with a hint of vanilla and wood. Cheerful, refined and elegant.                                                                                                                                                              Another addition to the family, named after one of Louis XV's horses, renowned for its speed and pedigree: Cassili.

The pedigree of the fragrance composition speaks for itself: the pure tradition of formulation that made the ‘perfumed court’ of the 18th century famous – and is now the hallmark of Parfums de Marly. Yet at the same time, it is an incredibly contemporary, free and cheeky fragrance... youthful perhaps?

An original fragrance, a breath of fresh air, a radiant scent created as a manifesto for a new generation of aesthetes. "Cassili opens up a new dimension in women's fragrances from Parfums de Marly. Sweet perfumes are very much in vogue, a vibrant part of today's fragrance craft. I wanted our composition to swim against the tide and yet be forgiving, subtle, elegant and almost classic. True to the spirit of Parfums de Marly creations!

It took us five years to tame, shape and refine this notorious plum note until we achieved the delicacy we had dreamed of." –Julien Sprecher, founder of Parfums de Marly.

A colossal pastel-coloured bouquet

Julien Sprecher entrusted the creation of Cassili to perfumers Calice Becker and Nanako Ogi (Givaudan). By selecting raw materials of exceptional quality and combining them with innovative molecules, the two women challenged the traditional code of the fragrance pyramid to create a harmonious and vibrant fragrance in which the notes interact, blossom and blend as soon as they come into contact with the skin.

Top note

Sun-drenched currants and radiant Bulgarian rose create an immediate sensation of clear freshness.

Middle note

The precious, tingling and subtly green plum accord blends with cheerful mimosa absolute to form a delicate and noble heart that is particularly complex.

Base note

Vanilla, benzoin from Laos and sandalwood create a comforting base. Warm and soothing, like a caress on the skin.

‘I wanted to give this scent a body that would come into its own as soon as it came into contact with the skin – like a tulle slip dress. For me, Cassili is a wonderful blend of pastel-coloured flowers and velvety fruits, both elegant and incredibly contemporary.’ –Nanako Ogi

The bottle

Attractive, elegant, sensual... just like the person wearing the fragrance. Peach-coloured and decorated with a tassel in the same colour, the cap has an apricot-coloured sheen. Not exactly the same, not completely different. The Cassili bottle resembles the fragrance. Irresistible.

France – something like the secret birthplace of perfume. During the reign of the Louis kings at the French court, beginning with the legendary Sun King Louis XIV and continuing through to Louis XVI, the court was also known as the ‘perfumed court’ due to the kings' passion for perfume: Not only did people perfume themselves extensively, but the chambers were also scented, even the fountains. Perfumes were considered status symbols – just like horses, which were kept and bred there with the same passion.

In 1743, the reigning king, Louis XV, commissioned the sculptor Guillaume Coustou to create horse statues in memory of his great-grandfather Louis XIV. These were erected in the parks of the kings' summer residence in Marly-le-Roi. These horse statues are now known as Les Chevaux de Marly and have achieved world fame as masterpieces of Baroque art. Replicas of the statues line the Champs-Élysées in Paris at its junction with the Place de la Concorde, while the originals have now found a home in the Louvre.

Parfums de Marly combines the passions of Louis XV – perfumes and horses – in its fragrance line. Designed as an olfactory homage to the magnificent perfume creations of that era, the fragrances are named after noble horse breeds and presented in flacons elaborately decorated with racy horses.
