Mehr über Penhaligon's

The perfume house was founded in the late 1860s by William Henry Penhaligon, a barber from Cornwall who had moved to London. It was no coincidence that he became court barber and perfumer to Queen Victoria. He opened his first barber shop in Jermyn Street in 1870, the year the company was founded, and was just as successful with his classic shaving products as he was with his self-formulated perfumes. Dazzling personalities and above all the aristocracy were among his clientele, and much later Sir Winston Churchill was also to join this illustrious circle. Penhaligon came up with his first perfume, Hammam Bouquet, after visiting the neighbouring Turkish baths, whose scent left a lasting impression on him. With this fragrance, he laid the foundations for numerous other creations.

Despite a chequered history, the perfumes that have since become true classics are still on offer today. The balance between tradition and timeless beauty is the reason why so many fragrance lovers swear by Penhaligon's and never want to be without this house.
