Eau Suave by Parfum d'Empire is a tribute to Marie-Josèphe-Rose de Tascher de La Pagerie, who married Napoleon Bonaparte in 1796 and was thereafter known as Joséphine. She was crowned empress in 1804.
The omnipresent rose notes are immediately apparent, which, together with the spiciness of coriander and saffron, are intended to evoke Joséphine's childhood in Martinique. Peppery and fruity notes emerge in the heart: the latter come from raspberry and peach, which in turn are accompanied by enchanting tea rose.
The base notes round off this lovely but distinctive fragrance with a hint of oak moss, white musk, patchouli and bourbon vanilla. Joséphine's great passion was botany, and she was particularly fond of roses. She breathed new life into the gardens of the Château de Malmaison by cultivating all the known varieties of roses in the world there.
She also planted exotic flowers and shrubs from her Caribbean homeland. Her vision was to use cuttings from her gardens to bring greater botanical diversity to the whole of France. With Eau Suave, we come closer to her dream.
