An irrepressible burst of freshness that bears the unmistakable signature of young perfumer Pierre Guillaume.
Pierre Guillaume was inspired to create this fragrance by the imposing papyrus plant, which he first discovered during a visit to the Fonte Aretuse freshwater spring in the Sicilian city of Syracuse. The opulence and delicate structure of papyrus bushes were already considered symbols of prosperity and visionary manufacturing techniques in ancient Egypt, where they were used to make not only the first papers but also ceremonial boats.
The classic fragrance architecture of Papyrus de Ciane is based on the anatomy of this unique plant: the sunny top notes of galbanum and broom, whose scent is reminiscent of orange blossom and honey, represent the umbel of the papyrus and evoke fresh, woody associations of tingling greenery. The heart symbolises the stem, creating a soft green plant accord accompanied by incense. The base note represents the roots of the papyrus shrub, with a modern reinterpretation of the Mousse de Saxe accord, which, in combination with musk, gives the fragrance depth and grounding.
