Tiziana Terenzi - Luna Collection - Caput Mundi

The new moon reveals itself to us as a shining black circle suspended, wonderous and perfect, in the vault of the heavens. Since ancient times she is said to possess magical powers and have a major influence on the earth, bringer of good fortune and joy to the men who turn to her.
Indeed, for centuries, especially during the glorious era of the Roman Empire, the New Moon has always been considered a symbol of good luck and future prosperity.
Like every new beginning, this time interval, marked by the phases of the moon, also brought with it the hope of being able to fulfill one's desires.

Under a Black Moon, cushioned by the charm of history and the glories of the Roman Empire, the children Paolo and Tiziana, together with their beloved family and dear grandparents Guglielmo and Luigia, embark on an adventurous journey into the fabulous capital of Italy. Rome has been known as Caput Mundi or capital of the world, since its very foundation.

Rome, the eternal city that crosses the entire history of humanity, bewitching in its monumental beauty, its alleys and famous squares hosts to Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Every corner exhales history and reverie. Every building, every brick, every stone of this magnificent city is unique and magical. Here reality merges with the imaginary, legends become eternal myths and hearts beat with unceasing happiness every hour of the day and night.

On a magical night such as this, at the height of a Roman summer, strolling through beautiful Piazza Navona, symbol of Baroque Rome, Paolo and Tiziana begin their wonderous journey of discovery.

Their grandfather who served his years in the Cavallery in Rome, begins to tell them stories and legends, indicating breathtaking monuments, mysterious palaces and enchanted fountains. First on their path is Palazzo Madama, today the seat of the Italian Senate. Just around a curve in the road, the magnificent colonnade of the Pantheon, with its towering braziers, in which precious burning woods emanated a regal fragrance in commemoration of the noble ancestors. Still enraptured by the scent of precious woods, dreamy and excited, the two children’s hearts skip a beat: they are standing and in front of the mythical Trevi Fountain, one of the most iconic beauties of Rome, Caput Mundi.
A place not only suggestive and beautiful in its own right, but above all the symbol of that Roman Dolce Vita crystallized in Federico Fellini’s film where the beautiful Anita Ekberg famously throws herself into the fountain to bathe with Marcello Mastroianni.

Tradition has it that by closing your eyes, turning your back on the giant tub and tossing a coin over your shoulder into the fountain you not only guarentee your future return to Rome but also good luck in life.
Their hearts full of emotion, Paolo and Tiziana immediately perform the ritual, closing their eyes and turning their faces to the sky, they throw the coins grasped firmly in their small hands. At the sound of the plop in the crystalline water, they open their eyes on an even greater wonder: the magical black moon above them, ready to fulfill their every wish. The air is full of the scent of precious woods burned in the braziers and the impact of so many emotions make the two children unsteady with faintness so that their grandfather has to support them both in a strong but, at the same time, delicate embrace.

The strength of that emotion is now enclosed in this magical bottle, black like the moon that inspired it, where precious woods are mixed in a unique and regal scent.
The creation opens on a sweet, mellow, flowery note. Echoes of precious Bulgarian Rose Absolute are combined with Tea Rose and Lily of the Valley, in regal counterpoint to prized Iris supported by the strength of Cabreuva wood, native of Brazil.

This gentle, princely head lies on a tenacious and courageous heart of precious black Indian Oudh and Sandalwood, expertly mixed with the Red Patchouli. These woods find strength and emphasis thanks to the acrobatic echoes of Orris (one of the most expensive ingredients in perfumery) and of Sicilian Red Saffron. This regal heart is rooted on a base befitting such a marvel. Here the persuasive and aphrodisiac thrust of the Gray Amber embraced by the enduring strength of Cuban Cedar and Cashmere Wood can clearly be perceived. The seal of such long lasting is the imperial impetus of the precious Agarwood from Vietnam and the Oudh from Cambodia.

The indelible and irrepressible strength of the of the world’s Capital City, in a drop of eternal, regal and magical beauty for true lovers of refinement, as timeless and neverending as the cycle of the Black Moon.

The Terenzi family: the story of men and women who understood how to capture the ‘absolute’ in a drop of perfume and ‘life’ in a ‘drop of wax’.

The Cereria Terenzi

The Cereria Terenzi was founded 40 years ago in Cattolica, in a space measuring just 16 square metres (172 square feet). The founder, Evelino Terenzi, wanted to continue the family tradition with a great deal of innovation, as his father Guglielmo had been involved in setting up a wax production business that made devotional and Easter candles for churches. He initially worked with his father and mother, who was called Luigia, until he pursued his own interest in making birthday candles. He owed his initial success to the invention of a new type of wax that made candles more resistant to impact, but also to his own idea of making candles that could essentially be used as food without posing any health risks. He decided to use food-grade paraffin, which greatly improved the safety of the candles. This was particularly innovative at the time, as environmental and health issues were not nearly as important as they are today. From then on, the company grew to become the most important wax producer in Italy and one of the most important in Europe. This provided work for many people. Today, San Giovanni in Marignano is at the forefront of the company. Just a few kilometres away in Cattolica live Evelino's children, Paolo and Tiziana, who carry on the spirit of the founder and his respect for this ancient and fine craft, a craft whose origins are lost in the mists of time.

Paolo and Tiziana made a conscious decision to continue on this path of respect for the environment, their employees and the health of their customers. Tiziana Terenzi, manager, design and creative director, says: ‘A candle is beauty; you cannot create beauty without also creating well-being. Beautiful things must also be good things.’ This is why the Cereria has received many awards over the years, including the ‘Crescita Responsabile’ prize, which is awarded to companies that stand out for their ethical approach, their concern for social issues and environmental protection, and their membership of the Banca delle Eccelenze to promote the ‘Made in Italy’ concept. Recognition and awards are undoubtedly a sign of appreciation. However, when you hear the Terenzi siblings talk about the history of the company, it becomes clear how much they value the idea of following in the footsteps of their father Evelino in terms of fairness and correctness: his ancestors were also pioneers of an ancient and honourable craft, which has now been enriched by innovative technology and ethical business practices. In the land of engines and mechanics, technical ingenuity becomes creativity, which in turn is expressed in functional design and a tireless passion for research and development.
