A new signature

In 2018, Maison Goutal is writing an exciting new chapter in its history. The house draws inspiration for its new signature, Goutal Paris, Conteur de Parfums (Perfume Storyteller), from its ability to tell stories and evoke emotions instantly.

Annick Goutal's father had planned a career for her as a pianist. Although she was talented and even won an important prize, she rebelled against this imposed career path and fled to London. There she was discovered as a model, but after a while she realised that this was not her true calling. Years later, during a visit to Grasse, she felt the desire to create a fragrance. So in 1976, she became a trainee to Henri Sorsana, and the Robertet company agreed to assist her with her fragrance. In 1980, Annick Goutal opened her own shop in an old bookstore on Rue de Bellechasse in the Saint-Germain district of Paris, where she served an ever-growing clientele with her creations. From 1985 onwards, Annick Goutal worked with the Taittinger Group, famous for its champagne. This helped her to distribute her perfumes internationally, especially in the United States, where the majority of sales are made. Annick Goutal died in 1999 at the age of only 53. Her work has since been continued by her daughter Camille Goutal and perfumer Isabelle Doyen, who has worked successfully for the company for many years.
