‘Tulay-Tulah’ is the name of the Spanish city of Toledo in Hebrew and Arabic. Toledo is the city of three cultures and is located on a rocky hill on the Tajo River.
It is famous for its religious tolerance: when it belonged to the Al-Andalus Empire, Jews, Christians and Muslims lived there in peace and harmony.
This coexistence (known as convivencia) made the city a cultural and economic centre. The incredibly rich artistic and cultural heritage of this period is still visible today and continues to enchant us: churches, mosques and synagogues, palaces and castles show the world the sophistication and good taste of those who lived in al-Andalus.
‘Toledo is a symbol of harmony, balance and good living. “Tulaytulah” is my message of peace to the world.’ – Majda Bekkali
‘Tulayulah’ enchants with notes of marzipan – almond pastries are so typical of Toledo. The scent conjures up images of cherry trees in bloom on the banks of the Tagus River. It is as graceful as the cypress trees that adorn the surrounding countryside. It leads you to the scent of the soft leather of Andalusian horse saddles.
The bottle and case are decorated with a stylised Andalusian rosette inspired by the ornaments of the Alhambra. An iconic design that combines strict Moorish geometry with pointillism. Refined with blue and gold, Tulaytulah reveals itself like a prayer.
