The fragrance Onder de Linde was previously known as Melkmeisje
Onder de Linde is a thoroughly Dutch fragrance. It captures the promise of early summer in Amsterdam.
Melkmeisje was inspired by the world-famous painting Het melkmeisje by the great old master Jan Vermeer. The oil painting was created in the mid-17th century and depicts a kitchen maid with a milk jug pouring milk into another earthenware jug. Despite the bright colours, the painting radiates concentration and tranquillity, thanks to the attentive gaze of the maid, whose face is half in shadow, and the simple, almost spartan surroundings, which contrast with the milk and the generously filled bread basket. The painting is one of the most important exhibits in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Baruti's ‘Melkmeisje’ is not a harbinger of spring, but rather of summer, as the lilacs are already in bloom and the lime trees are in all their glory. A tart pear adds a subtle fruitiness, refined by honey that is also not too sweet. Iris and vanilla complement rather than dominate, as do sandalwood and musk. An extremely charming floral fragrance with dazzling facets that give it depth, character and body.
