The goddess Venus, guardian of their dreams, transformed the island into their refuge, but the failure to pay tribute to the goddess condemned their love to tormented eternity. It is said that Alba's cries still echo today in the ruins of the Roman complex Le Grotte near Portoferraio; a cry that is an expression of never-ending hope and touches the heart.
