Creating something new

Keiko Mecheri founded her eponymous company in 1997 together with her husband Kamel Mecheri. The couple were working together in the high-tech and graphic design industry when they decided to turn their lives upside down and enter the world of niche fragrances, initially with artistic scented candles and room fragrances. They set up their studio on Sunset Boulevard, opposite the famous The Roxy and the Rainbow Room.

In many ways, the similarities between Grasse and California connect the two worlds of Keiko Mecheri – both share a mild, sunny climate all year round. The natural environment of southern France and L. A. evoke similar images, as do the intoxicating scents of sun-kissed citrus trees, blooming jasmine and the wild beauty of desert flowers and shamanic herbs. Last but not least, both the South of France and California were considered the epicentre of boho chic and sparked the spirit of pioneers and lateral thinkers.

Today, as demand for independent perfumes continues to grow, true connoisseurs appreciate the luxurious yet understated character of their fragrances and their ability to surprise and reinterpret vintage elements in a contemporary way.

California Dreaming

Keiko Mecheri, part artist, part entrepreneur, is a multicultural woman who was born in Japan, grew up in California and studied art in Europe. While some of her fragrances subtly evoke the Orient and her homeland, the Japanese Riviera, it is Keiko Mecheri's love for Los Angeles and California, with its sun-drenched climate, vibrant scene, relaxed lifestyle, diversity and lush surroundings, that truly drives her inspiration and ambition.

This unique landscape, as contrasting as fire and ice, is Mecheri's own olfactory route, a narrative that encompasses the expansive beaches, the rugged beauty of Malibu, Beverly Hills, the Sunset Strip and the famous Laurel Canyon, a mountainous neighbourhood in the Hollywood Hills. California, the land of freedom and opportunity, of hippies and celebrities, is characterised by its visionary courage and pursuit of innovation, its identity also shaped by radical social struggles.

The sustainable sourcing and processing of fragrances and taking responsibility. We firmly believe that it is our responsibility to take proactive steps to become a more sustainable company. We are responsible for the resources we use and the impact we have. All our glass bottles and packaging components are recyclable. We take care to protect the environment when sourcing raw materials. We take responsibility for running the company and maintaining a supply chain that respects our planet, the people and the living creatures that share our Earth.

None of our products or product ingredients are tested on animals, and none of the scents used in our fragrances contain ingredients of animal origin.
