The composition
‘Vêpres Siciliennes’ is Jeanne-Marie Faugier's olfactory interpretation of Italy: a garden full of orange trees whose branches stretch out towards the sea at that magical time of day when the afternoon heat gradually subsides, the day draws to a close and night falls – a Mediterranean night whose unique scents blend with those of the day.
In keeping with the idea of capturing the magnificent beauty and abundance of the land, the Sicilian evening stars, ‘Vêpres Siciliennes’, are extremely complex and multifaceted: the fragrance opens with citrus and floral notes, dominated by numerous hesperides, which reveal a few blossoms and green leaves and are spiced with cardamom and pepper. The lush floral heart offers woody accents of cedar and paves the way to the base of the perfume with heliotrope and ambergris. This picks up the soft, warm tendency with vanilla, musk and hints of caramelised butter toffee and also reveals an unexpected side: fruity osmanthus, peach, raspberry and plum with a hint of coconut combine to create a gourmand finish to the fragrance.
‘Vêpres Siciliennes’ – as MDCI quite rightly notes, a mysterious, complex and captivating play of light and shadow. A special fragrance that is somewhat difficult to classify: on the one hand, a fruity-green chypre, but on the other hand also floral, and then there is the base note that will make the mouths of all lovers of fruity gourmands water...
