With Absolu, Trudon's collection of perfumes is enhanced by an intense, heady, and addictive scent: the orange blossom absolute pays a direct tribute to Louis XIV, celebrating his innate power and unconditional love for one of haute parfumerie’s most emblematic flowers.
“The guiding thread is orange blossom, a rich ingredient that aligns perfectly with this year's royal theme, best illustrated by the Versailles x Trudon collaboration. I rarely suggest a specific ingredient to a perfumer. However, in the case of Absolu, Louis XIV’s love for orange blossom is a story worth telling: not only was it his absolute favorite flower, but he also used quantities of 'eau de fleur d'oranger' daily. I wanted to explore this theme and imagine facets unique to Trudon that would bring a luminous and spiritual touch to orange blossom. Antoine Lie’s creative approach perfectly reflects the monarch’s addiction to this vibrant, natural ingredient. The result is a luminous, sensual, and timeless perfume.” — Julien Pruvost, Creative Director.
The Inspiration
Absolu celebrates the Sun King's obsession with orange blossom and reveals its full symbolic significance—whether historical, luminous, floral, or spiritual. “With Absolu, I wanted to connect the concepts of absolute monarchy, influence, and far-reaching power with olfactory symbols that embody a sense of innate authority. The intense aroma of orange blossom perfectly personifies royal status: its fragrance is powerful, vibrant, and solar. It radiates warmth and sensuality,” explains expert perfumer Antoine Lie.
Absoluteness in a Bottle
Absolu is a highly symbolic perfume. To create this suave, heady, and carnal scent, Antoine Lie drew inspiration from the Chateau de Versailles' orangery and the enduring strength of orange blossom, revered by perfumers as an iconic ingredient.
Fresh and spicy top notes of cardamom, mandarin, and saffron captivate the senses. Gradually, the warm and enchanting heart notes emerge: orange blossom absolute takes center stage, accentuated by round and sensual facets and enhanced by floral iris and smoky incense notes. Strong and vibrant base notes of tonka bean, cedar, and guaiac wood leave an intensely addictive trail on the skin.
A Glorified Box
The perfume's symbolic essence is best expressed through its packaging. The dark blue box, adorned with an illustration, celebrates the Sun King's passion for orange blossom—and the trend he started at Versailles. Designed by Clovis Retif and printed in hot gold, the artwork portrays Louis XIV’s royal silhouette, with his face adorned by an orange blossom. The eau de parfum Absolu is presented in a classic 100 ml transparent glass bottle with a fluted, antique-green glass top.
