The composer
Le Rivage des Syrtes is the second fragrance created for Parfums MDCI by Patricia de Nicolaï, a perfumer already known and appreciated for her own line.
Presumably named after Julien Gracq's novel ‘Le Rivage de Syrtes’ (English: ‘The Edge of the Syrte’), the geographical location of this North African sea inlet makes it clear that the fragrance can be nothing other than an oriental scent.
The composition
Nicolaï has created just such a fragrance with ‘Le Rivage des Syrtes’: A lush, fruity Floriental fragrance, whose top notes consist of orange, galbanum and a richly sweet pineapple as the main protagonists. The heart notes offer a floral medley of tuberose, ylang-ylang and orange blossom, which, complemented by incense, lead to a soft base of ambergris, vanilla and musk.
The bottle
This glass bottle by Parfums MDCI is decorated with a red gold ribbon. Its shape is inspired by ancient Doric columns, with a rounded capital and base. This bottle can replace both the crystal and Limoges edition bottles.
