Carrière Frères - La Rose aime le Poivre - Scented Candle
Originally from Turkey, the Damask rose, known as the ‘queen of flowers’, has been praised since ancient times for its delicate fragrance and elegance. From China to Persia, the rose is revered as a divine symbol. The rare and precious pepper has been traded since ancient times: as a scarce commodity, it was even used as a means of payment and is mentioned in the book ‘De re culinaria libri’ by the Roman writer Apicius. Pepper is generally known for its intense flavour and stimulating medicinal properties.
There is no unrequited love between the two families – Rosaceae and Piperaceae. Mixed together in a candle, the rose bush and peppercorns – which vary in colour from pink to green to black – form a perfect pair: when it is cold, the spiciness of the peppercorns takes over, and when it is warm, the delicate scent of roses is elegantly enhanced.
The delicate Damask rose and the noble pepper go together perfectly.
The limited edition floral packaging shines in dusky pink with a gold-edged label: the La Rose Aime le Poivre scented candle, fragrance diffuser and botanical palette are an invitation to share precious moments with your loved ones. On the illustrated label, a bouquet of roses embraces pepper plants rich in pink peppercorns.
Falling in love is easy.

History and expertise of the brand
The history of Carrière Frères naturally follows that of the Royal Wax Manufactory, now known as Trudon. In 1884, the Carrière brothers decided to buy the manufactory: passionate about its historical expertise, they wanted to modernise it. With respect for tradition, they initially continued the centuries-old heritage of the 17th and 18th century candle makers. Then, in order to indulge their curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit, they founded the company Carrière Frères in 1884. At the end of the 18th century, the industrial revolution was in full swing: despite the wave of modernisation and increasing access to electricity, the brothers managed to keep the use of candles alive and creative. In a clever way, candles were added to religious use as decorative objects: a new generation of pillar and taper candles appeared on dining tables and at festive evenings. As early as 1889, the brothers were awarded a gold medal at the World's Fair for their vision and craftsmanship.
The Carrière Frères line, manufactured by Trudon, has since been at the forefront of respecting traditional expertise, embracing modernity and creating a legacy.
Innovation and sustainable strategy
Carrière Frères adheres to the highest standards and is constantly seeking innovation in order to use only the best ingredients. Through the choice of sustainable products and a creative approach, each element of the blend is selected to minimise its impact on the environment without compromising the aesthetics or sensory properties of the product. Carrière Frères composes its perfumes in collaboration with the Robertet Group, a world leader in raw material sourcing, which provides a unique range of natural ingredients for creating original perfumes. Preferring only the best quality also means pursuing a global sustainable strategy. The raw materials are always sourced ethically from a cooperative as part of sustainability programmes and using organic farming methods. For each botanical essence, the process is precise, responsible, sustainable and ethical. The packaging also reflects a responsible and transparent approach: recycled glass, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) cardboard packaging, 100% natural alcohol, untreated rattan sticks, cork caps – every component is chosen to reduce the brand's footprint.
