Parfums de Marly - Castley

Castley – the compass that guides you to your goals
From French explorers to modern adventurers: Castley was inspired by the boldness and courage of the French explorers of the 18th century. These visionary gentlemen set themselves great challenges in order to discover new inspiration and horizons. They made the impossible possible. The masculine fragrance Castley evokes memories of the golden age of spices, when ingredients such as pepper, cinnamon and ginger were discovered and brought to France. An era that would forever shape the character of French haute parfumerie. Today, Castley stands for the same desire for travel and adventure that now attracts the modern man.

Thanks to meticulously selected high-end ingredients, Castley expresses the perfect balance between luminous freshness and spicy energy, reflecting a vigorous man always on the move. Breezy citrusy and mineral notes, contrast with rich spicy Timut Pepper, ambery Labdanum and noble Akigwalawood that unveil an intense side. A vibrant fragrance, embodying intrepidity and confidence with a unique history, shaping the trail of a bold ascent.

Castley by Parfums de Marly is a radiant yet profound fragrance for a fearless man. The smoky grey and transparent bottle is mysterious and clear. It reflects the authentic image of the urban and stylish man. But beneath the surface lies passion and sensuality and the urge to set off for new horizons.

France – something like the secret birthplace of perfume. During the reign of the Louis kings at the French court, beginning with the legendary Sun King Louis XIV and continuing through to Louis XVI, the court was also known as the ‘perfumed court’ due to the kings' passion for perfume: Not only did people perfume themselves extensively, but the chambers were also scented, even the fountains. Perfumes were considered status symbols – just like horses, which were kept and bred there with the same passion.

In 1743, the reigning king, Louis XV, commissioned the sculptor Guillaume Coustou to create horse statues in memory of his great-grandfather Louis XIV. These were erected in the parks of the kings' summer residence in Marly-le-Roi. These horse statues are now known as Les Chevaux de Marly and have achieved world fame as masterpieces of Baroque art. Replicas of the statues line the Champs-Élysées in Paris at its junction with the Place de la Concorde, while the originals have now found a home in the Louvre.

Parfums de Marly combines the passions of Louis XV – perfumes and horses – in its fragrance line. Designed as an olfactory homage to the magnificent perfume creations of that era, the fragrances are named after noble horse breeds and presented in flacons elaborately decorated with racy horses.
