Sacred Wood – the fifth fragrance in the Asian Tales collection by Kilian... an olfactory homage to real sandalwood from Mysore, to India and to the ancient mystical traditions of Indian culture.
The legend of Savitri and Satyavan tells of two lovers whose love conquers death. When Savitri learns one day that her husband will die in a year, she takes a vow of fasting three days before the predicted date of his death and keeps vigil in front of a sacred tree. When Yama, the god of death, appears to take Satyavan's soul, she follows him and refuses to be turned away. To get rid of Savitri, Yama offers to grant her every wish, except for saving Satyavan's life. But Savitri begs and pleads tirelessly, so that in the end not only does Satyavan remain alive, but Savitri is also granted all her wishes.
‘Sacred Wood’ evokes the sensuality of this ethereal oil with impressions of steaming hot milk aromas, shiny polished woods and sharp, intense spices.
Asian Tales
Following the successful launch of the first two collections by Kilian, L'Œuvre Noire and Arabian Nights, Kilian takes us on another journey of discovery, to a new culture – Asia, a continent of a thousand impressions and equally eponymous for the collection: Asian Tales – a collection inspired by Asian legends. Asian Tales was conceived as an olfactory journey that develops into a spiritual voyage of discovery and takes on increasingly symbolic meaning. As the creations took shape, every detail was carefully selected to pay tribute to this magnificent culture.
Asian Tales was initially conceived as an olfactory journey, but as the meaning and dimension of the project's symbols and words became apparent, it evolved into a spiritual experience. Once the creative process was complete, every detail was crafted with the utmost care to show respect for this magnificent culture.
