The Essence of Essentiality
Inspiration
On the streets of a chaotic city people move with the same uncontrollable frenzy that we can observe inside an anthill. Unexpectedly an alley leading to a quiet garden, appears from a little gate. Here pebbles, little islands and bridges on sand allude to the presence of water that, however, never shows up. We perceive the stream of energy that permeates everything and gives birth to an overwhelming desire to be in harmony with the surrounding environment. We are caught by a sense of peace and relax that invite us to pull away from material concerns, sit down and meditate.
“The minimalism of the garden leads us to think about essentiality, the meaning of what really matters. We stop to grasp the energy which animates the whole and whose flow represents water, evoked by every element of the Karesansui, the Japanese garden. We could almost touch it and hear it in its pouring, and yet it is not there. Its presence-absence invites us not to always search for tangible evidences of our perceptions, and to let the imagination guide us to discover the essentiality of what really matters.” Silvio Levi
Olfactory Description
We enter a garden, a peaceful oasis hidden in between skyscrapers. The absence of water and the evoking of its pouring are represented in olfactory terms by Blue-Green Algae (it gives a salted feature to the fragrance with sand scents), obtained through molecular distillation. The apparently contrasting top notes of Rhubarb, Ginger, Bitter Orange and marine hints structure themselves in an unusual harmony. The heart notes slowly slide into a delicate bouquet where Magnolia and Cyclamen combine themselves with a Fir nuance. Vetiver and Black Tea complete the Libera Mente’s olfactory meditation creating a compact and soft one that invites us to pay attention to what really matters.
Perfume & Music Project
Like the previous Calé Fragranze d’Autore works, Libera Mente as well is accompanied by an original soundtrack by composer Philip Abussi. The starting strike of a Tibetan Bell that vibrates during the whole track and the occurring of sound effects evoke elements of the garden, the water’s stream and the wind blowing, inviting the listener to meditate.
