The fragrance refers to the ancient ritual of extracting labdanum — the resin of the lacquer rose (Cistus ladanifer) — from the skins of wandering goats and sheep. It is a meeting of man and nature. Creative Director Dennis Werner dedicates Ládano to the mythical and sacred beauty of the Mediterranean Cistus ladanifer — a plant that has been revered in mythology, medicine and perfumery for centuries. It unites two souls: the light, sun-soaked side, distilled into essential oil and absolute, captured by Delphine Thierry in “Cistus”, a transparent, silvery-amber fragrance infused with light and incense; and the darker, warmer side, the resin itself — condensed in “Ládano”, a profound creation full of security and sensuality.
This cycle becomes tangible in Ládano. In Delphine Thierry's hands, the resin is transformed into a perceptible form of closeness. It is like a blanket of amber and warming sunlight, woven from depth, warmth and tenderness. A fragrance that gives closeness and rests in itself.
Silent warmth
For centuries, the deep, golden resin of Spanish labdanum has been collected like an offering. It clings to the woollen clothing of animals and permeates fabric and skin with its warm breath. A gift from the earth that hovers between originality and sophistication. Dense, balsamic, enveloping. “When creating Ládano, I wanted to put my finger on the pulse of Cistus ladanifer — the resin of the lacquer rose, its beauty and its quiet wildness. In Labdanum you can feel human warmth that speaks of closeness and care. The briefing spoke of texture, the weight of the wool and the breath of the sun seeping through the resin. Around the labdanum, I have created a formula that is alive — animalic but kind; deep but never heavy. I see Ládano as a fragrance of presence, an aroma to wear when words are superfluous. It is the moment after the fire, when the embers are still glowing and the silence of night is approaching.”
